DASP Extended Services
Activities
A Happy New Year from Jenny Barrett and Anne Clark, the Extended Services Co-ordinators for the Dorchester Area Schools’ Partnership.
During the Autumn term Jenny and I, with information supplied by the Headteachers, have devised a DASP Extended Services Development plan. The complete version of this can be viewed on the Extended Services page of the DASP website. The aim of this plan is to further develop the extended services that DASP schools already provide for children, parents and the community.
One of the key priorities this year will be to offer Family Learning opportunities, such as the circus skills event shown in the photos below and held at Piddle Valley First School. Extended Services funding will also be supporting the Family SEAL follow-up training session being held in February. The feedback from our schools on the introduction of the family SEAL programme has been very positive and the forthcoming session will provide an opportunity for DASP colleagues to share successes and problems, and consider and discuss new ideas.
This term will see the launch of a pilot peer mediation project in DMS and its feeder first schools. The training for this will be provided for by Dorset Mediation and funded from the Extended Services budget. It will involve Y3 and Y4 pupils in the first schools and pupils from all year groups in DMS.
Last term, Jenny and I were out and about in all DASP schools, meeting with school staff, parents and children. We were made very welcome at numerous coffee mornings and Christmas fayres. We would like to thank DASP schools for their positive support for our work.
If, you would like to contact either of us please email to:- extendedservices@dasp.org.uk
These photos were taken in the Autumn Term 2009 at Piddle Valley First School. They show parents and children having fun whilst learning new skills together. This circus skills family learning event was run by the West Dorset District Action Van staff, and funded from the DASP extended services budget.
